The Department of Thoracic Surgery at the Rambam Healthcare Campus is the largest department of its kind in the country. Some 500 operations are performed by the department every year, using video equipment and other advanced technologies. In addition, the department performs some 300 invasive diagnostic procedures including CT guided FNA.
The Thoracic Surgery Department is a regional and national center in a number of areas, including: complex esophageal surgery, complex lung surgery requiring combined surgery/oncology treatment, complex mediastinal endocrine gland surgery and video assisted surgery for trauma and diseases of the lungs and mediastinum.
The department’s staff is committed to excellence in medical treatment and provides a optimal support to patients and families during the hospitalization period and afterwards. Our staff members also take an active role treating patients in the trauma and intensive care units.
Over the past several years, the Department of Thoracic Surgery staff has received awards for outstanding patient care from the hospital management, the Civil Service Commissioner, the Minister of Health and the President of Israel.
