The Department of Orthopedics "B" treats a wide range of orthopedic diseases and orthopedic trauma. Its areas of expertise include complex hip and knee surgeries, sports injuries, complex fractures of the limbs, diseases and fractures of the spinal cord, and diseases of the foot and ankle. In addition, the department treats non-healing wounds, including hyperbaric chamber treatments, and nerve problems of the foot, in conjunction with Rambam's Pain Clinic.

The department participates in a number of clinical studies in its field, notable of which are an international study to develop an anti-clotting drug for use after joint replacement surgery, a study on osteoporosis examining nutritional and other background factors as risk factors for hip fractures, and a clinical study of the use of a foot and ankle splint.
