The Oral and Dental Medicine Department provides comprehensive medical and dental services for a very wide range of diseases and disorders of the oral cavity. The department serves all residents of Northern Israel, as well as patients from other parts of the country and overseas. The department contains four professional units under its auspices, as well as several dedicated clinics in specific areas of dental medicine: • The Periodontics and Oral Medicine Unit – cares for gum diseases and disorders of the oral mucous membranes, periodontal surgery, bone augmentation and dental implants; • The Orthodontics, Pedodontics and Craniofacial Deformities Unit – performs teeth-straightening procedures, dental care for children, and integrated treatments for children born with facial deformities; • The Maxillofacial Reconstruction Unit – reconstructs the face and jaw following traumatic injuries and maxillofacial resections; • The Endodontics and Dental Trauma Unit – performs root canals for sufferers of various systemic diseases and for individuals with excessive dental anxiety; • The Clinic for Tempero-Mandibular Disorders – cares for diseases and disorders of the mandibular joint; • The Dental Clinic for medically compromised patients provides dental treatment for a wide range of patients with systemic disorders.
In addition to their clinical responsibilities, the department physicians are also active in academic instruction, and basic and applied research.
