The Department of Cardiac Surgery encompasses a highly experienced professional team and state of the art equipment, and as such is able to offer its patients most of the spectrum of surgical procedures of the heart. The main surgical load is coronary artery bypass surgery, valvular heart surgery and the combination of the two. The department further provides surgical procedures for congenital heart disease, arrhythmias such as atria fibrillation cardiac aneurysms, cardiac remodeling for patients in congestive heart failure and others.
The department's goal is to provide the most advanced services possible, in line with the latest developments in the field. For this purpose, the department uses advanced technologies and new surgical techniques, including, among others: off-pump cardiac bypass surgery, and special novel techniques of surgery for congestive heart failure including reconstruction of the left ventricle.
The department team places special emphasis on relating to each patient in a dedicated and personal manner. In addition to their clinical activities, the department team is involved in medical research, teaching and other academic activities.
