The Department of Internal Medicine E treats a wide range of internal disorders, particularly those related to the heart, which characterize the majority of patients reaching the emergency room. The department is one of five internal medicine departments operating within the Internal Medicine Division of the Rambam Healthcare Center, and the only one which maintains a clinic for monitoring patients who require post-hospitalization care.
The department also maintains a clinic, headed by Dr. Oron Eilam, Assistant Head of the department and specialist in internal medicine and rheumatology.
In the future, the department will be expanded to include a Chest Pain Unit – the first of its kind in the country. This new activity will improve the level treatment and enable prompt diagnosis and development of a treatment plan for each patient.
In addition to its ongoing clinical tasks, the department is active in a broad range of research activities, including numerous clinic studies, mainly in the fields of atherosclerosis and hyperlipidemia.
