Infectious Diseases Unit
|
|
The Infectious Diseases Unit aims to prevent, diagnose and treat the broad spectrum of infectious problems recognized in modern medicine. These problems include diseases caused by bacterial, viral, fungal, parasitic and other pathogens causing community and healthcare-acquired infections. The Infectious Diseases Unit is responsible for developing strategies oriented to a wiser use of antimicrobial drugs, and recommendations aimed to reduce the incidence of hospital-acquired infections, particularly those caused by multidrug-resistant organisms. Such policies are considered of utmost importance and are part of a hospital strategy aimed to improve quality assurance and patient safety.
