The Physical Therapy Department provides physical therapy services to patients hospitalized at the Rambam Healthcare Campus, in the respiratory, orthopedic, neurology, functional and developmental areas. The department also provides services to external patients with problems of the joints, balance, back and neck. A therapeutic pool is available for hydrotherapy for all residents of Northern Israel. In cooperation with Rambam's Oral and Maxillofacial Department, the department provides physical therapy for problems of pain, dislocations, disorders of the jaw, and following surgery. Physical therapy is also provided for patients with cystic fibrosis, incontinence, and sexual functioning.
The department monitors infants who were born prematurely, and provides developmental treatments for babies and children, including neurological rehabilitation for children following head injuries and neurological diseases. In addition, a support group for individuals with Parkinsons disease provides guidance in maintaining their range of movement, proper functioning and in preventing degeneration of their condition; this activity takes place in the framework of the multi-disciplinary clinic for movement disorders.
The department team uses the most advanced treatment techniques, rehabilitation devices and technologies available in the field, including: electrotherapy devices for treating pain and stimulating muscles for rehabilitation, whirlpool baths, and more.
