Dr. Imad Makhoul is a pediatrician and neonatologist who graduated from the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine at the Technion– Israel Institute of Technology. He completed his clinical training in Pediatrics and Neonatology at Rambam Medical Center and a postgraduate two-year clinical and research fellowship at the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.
Dr. Makhoul obtained a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) Degree from the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine at the Technion– Israel Institute of Technology.
Dr. Makhoul's main research and clinical interests are implementation of PCR and DNA sequencing in early diagnosis of sepsis, sonographic growth profile of neonatal cerebral lobes and cerebellum, long-term growth in childhood of premature infants < 1500 grams, effect of maternal touch (Kangaroo) on pain reaction in premature infants, characterization of congenital malformation syndromes, and pathogenetic mechanisms for intraventricular hemorrhage in premature infants.
Together with his clinical and research colleagues, Dr. Makhoul has developed novel and now widely recognized diagnostic approaches for improving the management of sick premature infants.
