Dr. Lightman is a specialist in Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology. He is also a graduate of the Technion Faculty of Chemistry with BSc and MSc degrees in analytical chemistry.
He received his clinical training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Rambam Medical Center in Haifa and a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at Yale University Medical School, New Haven, Connecticut.  
Dr. Lightman is a senior staff physician at the In-Vitro Fertilization Unit, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Director of the Sperm Bank and Male Infertility Clinic. He is also a senior lecturer at the Technion Faculty of Medicine.
Dr. Lightman founded, in collaboration with the Oncology Department, the Fertility Preservation Clinic for cancer patients, where women and men in their reproductive age receive consultation and treatment to preserve their fertility potential before radio-chemotherapy. This service includes a unique option of ovarian tissue cryopreservation.
Dr. Lightman also participates in a program of fertility treatment for HIV carriers.
