Prof. Yeshayahu (Shai) Katz is a graduate of the Hadassah Medical Center at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem. He completed his residency at Rambam Medical Center and received a D.Sc. in the Medical Sciences from the Department of Pharmacology at the Faculty of Medicine of the Technion. Prof. Katz served as the Director of the Department of Anesthesiology, HaEmek Medical Center, Afula and currently is the Director of the Department of Anesthesiology, Rambam Health Care Campus.

Prof. Katz was a Visiting Professor at the Department of Anesthesiology, Hermann- Memorial Hospital of the University of Texas, Houston. His main area of research is the pharmacology of anesthetic agents and apoptosis of neuronal cells in the central nervous system. He has published over 85 scientific articles in international journals, and serves on the review board of leading scientific journals. Prof. Katz received several grants and was awarded the Hershel Rich Technion Innovation Prize.
