Professor Joseph Itskovitz-Eldor graduated from the Hebrew University Faculty of Medicine in Jerusalem, and received his D.Sc. from the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa.dk

Professor Itskovitz-Eldor is Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Rambam Medical Center and is Director of the Stem Cell Center of the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa. Professor Itskovitz-Eldor has more than 200 scientific publications in the fields of fetal physiology, assisted reproductive technologies and human embryonic stem cells.dk
 In 1983 Professor Itskovitz-Eldor founded the first IVF unit at Rambam Medical Center, which was one of the first of its kind in Israel at the time. Since its establishment the unit has stood at the forefront of research and development worldwide, with state-of-the-art clinical and laboratorial treatment methods for infertile couples. Professor Itskovitz-Eldor also devotes his research efforts towards developing novel technologies for the derivation and culture of human embryonic stem cells for research and clinical applications, and exploring the potential of these cells to differentiate into various lineages.dk
