Dr. Israelit graduated from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology with B.A. (cum laude) and MSc (cum laude) degrees in Physics, and went on to earn B.Sc. (cum laude) in Medicine and MD (cum laude) degrees, also from the Technion. Further on, he earned a PhD degree in Medicine (Neuroscience). Dr. Israelit completed his internship and residency in General Surgery at Rambam’s Department of Surgery A and has been an Attending Surgeon in that department since 2004.

Dr. Israeli joined a clinical fellowship program at the Department of Colorectal Surgery at the Keck Medical School, University of Southern California, Los Angeles, under the instruction of Dr. R.W.Beart (2005-2006). During his fellowship, Dr. Israelit developed expertise in advanced treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the lower gastrointestinal tract. He was also involved in numerous clinical studies examining the physiology of fecal continence, treatment of colitis and radical surgeries for advanced colorectal cancer.

Dr. Israelit has also served as an Airborne Trauma and Rescue Team Surgeon in the Israel Defense Forces since 1999. He has earned many honors and awards as an "Outstanding Clinical Instructor" of students of Medicine, and was awarded “Outstanding Physician” by the Rambam Medical Center in 2005. His main clinical interests are colorectal surgery, and in particular the treatment of complicated colorectal malignancies.
