Professor Ora Israel is a graduate of the School of Medicine in Bucharest, Romania and of the Nuclear Medicine Residency Program at Rambam Medical Center in Haifa.
She is the Associate Director for Research Operations at Rambam Medical Center as well as Director of Nuclear Medicine/PET there.
Dr. Israel has been a Visiting Professor at the Harvard Joint Program in Nuclear Medicine in Boston. She has been a pioneer in the development of the novel hybrid SPECT/CT and PET/CT imaging technology since its beginnings in the late 90's.
She is the author of two textbooks and over 140 scientific articles.
Dr. Israel is a member of the Publication Committee of the Society of Nuclear Medicine based in the United States and serves on the editorial boards of prestigious journals devoted to imaging technology. Dr. Israel is a member of the Global Medical Advisory Board for the Functional Imaging/PET division of General Electric Healthcare Technologies.
She is the 2006 laureate of the prestigious Alkalis Prize for Excellence in Research awarded by the Jewish National Fund
