Dr. Shlomo Filmar graduated from the Sackler Medical School of Tel Aviv University in 1975. Following his national military service in the Navy, he joined Rambam Medical Center’s Department of Ob-Gyn as a resident physician. Dr. Filmar studied gynecological microsurgery and minimal invasive surgery techniques in British Columbia, and in 1992 became an active member of the AAGL (American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists).
In 1997 Dr. Filmar was appointed the Head of the Minimal Invasive Surgery Unit of Rambam Medical Center, a unit which focuses יn designated gynecological laparoscopies and hysteroscopies and trains physicians and nurses in this specialized field. The majority of the surgical activities rely on the utilization of small imaging instruments with screen displays which allow operations to be performed in the abdomen or uterus without the need to perform incisions typical of regular operations.
