Professor Zeev Blumenfeld is a reproductive endocrinologist, obstetrician, and gynecologist who graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He completed his residency at Rambam Medical Center in Haifa and a Fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco.
Professor Blumenfeld's research interests are in the preservation of human fertility and ovarian function in young female patients exposed to gonadotoxic chemotherapy for malignant diseases such as Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphomas, breast cancer, and non-malignant autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus, undergoing cyclophosphamide pulse therapy for nephropathy and severe autoimmune diseases. In addition, Professor Blumenfeld is investigating the novel therapeutic and possible clinical applications of Activin, Inhibin and other TGF-Beta superfamily peptides and the hypophysiotropic and neuroregulatory regulation of human fetal pituitary cells in-vitro, and new therapeutic modalities for polycystic ovary syndrome.
