Dr. Birman was born in the Ukraine in 1959, and studied medicine in Asterkhan and Odessa.
Since 1984, he worked as an outpatient psychiatrist, and immigrated to Israel in 1990. He completed a specialization in psychiatry in Israel in 2000, and since then has been working as a senior psychiatrist in the psychiatric outpatient clinic at Rambam Medical Center.
He works in the field of ambulatory psychiatry with an emphasis on the mental health needs of military veterans, particularly post traumatic stress disorders.
