Dr. Beiran received his M.D. degree from the Faculty of Medicine at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and completed a residency in the Department of Ophthalmology at Rambam Medical Center. He also completed a clinical fellowship in glaucoma at the Department of Ophthalmology, Toronto University, Canada.
He is Israeli board certified in ophthalmology.

Dr. Beiran was Surgeon General of the Israeli Navy (1995-1997) and is an expert in naval, undersea and diving medicine. His main fields of interest are glaucoma and oxidative damage to the lens.
