Rambam Health Care Campus provides state-of-the-art emergency and trauma care, and is the exclusive provider of comprehensive trauma treatment in northern Israel. Its Trauma Unit is by far the most active and advanced in Israel.

We have a highly developed system in preparation for, response to, and recovery from, mass casualty incidents. Physicians, nurses, and other personnel have substantial accumulated expertise in dealing with such emergencies. This expertise has been shared with numerous countries and health organizations in conjunction with our Teaching Center for Trauma, Emergency and Mass Casualty Situations.

The decision to build the 2,000-bed Sammy Ofer Fortified Underground Emergency Hospital was taken during the Second Lebanon War in the summer of 2006, when the city of Haifa and Rambam Health Care Campus were under heavy bombardment by Hezbollah in Lebanon.
