Greetings from Prof. Rafael Beyar

Addressing the Friends of Rambam, Prof. Rafael Beyar, director-general of the hospital, described RHCC’s role in the Second Lebanon War, in day-to-day healing and in fostering tolerance between Arabs and Jews.

Rafael Beyar

Dear Friends of Rambam,

Not many days after President Peres addressed our 70th Anniversary Gala in Haifa, Israel found itself once again at war, this time in the South.
This is terrible in itself, and has in addition recalled for the North the Second Lebanon War of two summers ago.

Throughout the many conflicts between Israel and our neighbors, Rambam has resolutely ursued peace and practiced social harmony, and so shall we do always.
We are doctors and nurses. Our every impulse is creative, constructive and reconstructive.
At Rambam, Arabs and Jews work side by side to heal the sick, repair the wounded, and palliate human suffering — and as a physician, I can assure you that the reality of human suffering is sufficiently terrible without the misery of war to exacerbate it.

It is with this same energetic, diligent, hopeful attitude toward national, regional and global challenges that we at Rambam also view the current worldwide economic downturn.  Rambam Health Care Campus and Rambam’s Friends are really beyond the vicissitudes of economic cycles because we are working toward a long view of the future. In these pages, we are pleased to share with you aspects of our vision.
