IDF Chief-of-Staff Lt.-Gen. Gaby Ashkenazi visited three IDF commando soldiers at Rambam Hospital, that were wounded during the raid on the flotilla en route to Gaza

 IDF Chief-of-Staff Lt.-Gen. Gaby Ashkenazi visited three IDF soldiers at Rambam Hospital, that were wounded during the raid on the flotilla en route to Gaza.  The three commando soldiers are hospitalized in the Surgical Unit and are in a stable condition.  The IDF Chief-of-Staff wished the soldiers a speedy recovery and praised their actions.  He told them that having been wounded in the Yom Kippur War, and hospitalized at Rambam, he knows they are in good hands. Lt.-Gen. Ashkenazi was accompanied by Rambam Director-General Prof. Rafael Beyar.

Lying hospitalized in a parallel surgical unit at RHCC are six of the foreign activists that were on the boat.  The six injured arrived at Rambam while described as being in critical condition.  Some of the injured arrived with bullet wounds and underwent life- saving surgical procedures performed by the Trauma team.

Prof Beyar stated "Doctors do not busy themselves with politics; we were of course all concerned for the well being of the soldiers but treated all of our patients with the same professionalism and the most advanced medical expertise were admitted to everyone."

Hundreds of civilians, soldiers and politicians visited the injured soldiers during this week; among these visitors were, Moshe Kahlon, Minister of Communications, the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Daniel Ayalon and MK Mr. Shaul Mofaz.
