A new Internet Journal, published by Rambam Health Care Campus (RHCC), offers scientific and medical information, and more, for free. And, by the way, you can feel free to use or replicate all material in the magazine any way you’d like…
With the launch of the Rambam Maimonides Medical Journal (RMMJ), which was presented at the Rambam Summit last week, Rambam Health Care Campus (RHCC) becomes the only medical center in Israel – and one of just a few worldwide - to produce a high-quality scientific/medical magazine that also addresses a broad-based population thirsty for knowledge.
Last week, Rambam released a prestigious research-oriented Internet magazine. Called the Rambam Maimonides Medical Journal (RMMJ), this is the first magazine of its kind in Israel, and one of a handful worldwide.

The magazine will feature a diversity of medical and research articles in different areas, authored by central figures in the world of medicine. All material is accessed easily, and free of charge. While there are other similar magazines, access to them generally requires payment and is available to members alone. Few such magazines – supported by medical centers – are available.
Work on this project began a decade ago, and its underlying concept has developed over the years. During this time, connections were forged with those behind the magazine and those writing for it. According to Prof. Shraga Blazer, Director of Rambam’s Department of Neonatology and Editor-in-Chief of RMMJ, the uniqueness of this medical magazine lies in its personal and humanistic approach, even beyond its publication of medical and scientific subjects: “Rambam Medical Center is named after one of the greatest researchers, scientists, doctors and philosophers known to humanity. We, who carry on in his name, continue in his footsteps. His spirit also guides RMMJ, which deals with patient care, public health and the place of the patient with regard to scientific and medical innovations. Because of this, the fact that the magazine is free and accessible to everyone has great significance. Anyone can enter and transfer or copy information at no charge.”
RMMJ embraces researchers, scientists and physicians from all corners of the earth. Its Associate Editors are Nobel Prize Laureate in Chemistry Prof. Aaron Ciechanover, Chair of Rambam's Scientific Advisory Board, Director of RHCC cardiologist Prof. Rafi Beyar, and Rambam’s Director of Medical and Research Development nephrologist Prof. Karl Skorecki, a world-renowned genetics researcher.
Among Editorial Board Members are Prof. Henri Bismuth, an internationally known expert on liver surgery, Baroness Ruth Deech, a former Governor of the BBC, and other leading figures. Authors of articles in the first issue of RMMJ include Nobel Laureate in Chemistry Prof. Avram Hershko, who addresses young scientists; Prof. Fred Rosner of Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, who writes about medicine according to the RAMBAM; Prof. John P.M. Finberg, a Technion researcher who helped develop a new drug for treatment of Parkinson’s disease, and others.
