A group of Palestinian medical experts from Ramallah visited Rambam Health Care Campus last month for a full-fledged tour of the Center's Trauma Unit in order to learn about preparation and crisis management in cases of mass casualty incidents (MCI) such as terror attacks, accidents, and natural disasters. 

A new Medical Center is due to be built in Ramallah with American aid and assistance programs, which will include a modern and sophisticated Trauma Unit. Palestinian medical experts, supported and recommended by their American counterparts, selected the Rambam model for Emergency MCI Processes because of the Center's vast knowledge and experience in this field during times of war and terror attacks.

The Palestinian medical delegation was guided by Dr. Moshe Michaelson, the Head of the Emergency and Trauma Units at Rambam and his managing director Dr. Eran Tal-Or. The visitors took many notes and were very impressed by the creative procedures implemented to simplify the admittance and treatment processes, particularly those not based on medical components; for example, the integration of simple and inexpensive equipment available also at "do-it-yourself" handy stores, etc.

The visitors expressed their interest in advancing into the next stage whereby they will send physicians and nurses from Ramallah for training in crisis management courses at Rambam, similar to the on-going workshops and seminars it provides attended by physicians from India, China and African nations.
