The patient, a 43-year old woman, had suffered for 20 years from severe joint disease. Because of pains and limitation of movement in the elbow, the patient underwent a number of operations 10 years ago, which partially improved the situation. During the past year, she again began suffering severe pain in the right elbow, and major limitation of movement. In a pre-surgical session, it was decided that the most appropriate operation for her would be a complete elbow replacement, using a synthetic elbow made of special materials. The surgery was successful and the patient was discharged a few days later.
