The Crystal Hall at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, Canada, was the scene of an elegant fund-raising event dedicated to the construction of two biomedical research towers at two points distant one from the other – one at Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa and one at the University of Toronto Hospital. The 4 million dollars raised at the event will be divided equally between Rambam Medical Center and the University of Toronto Hospital.

Despite the geographic distance, these two medical institutions have a great deal in common: clinical and research excellence. Both facilities plan to build biomedical research towers that will connect medicine and science for the benefit of mankind.
Among the initiators of the evening were Mr. Eitan Wertheimer of Iscar and Mr. Warren Buffett who purchased 80% of Iscar shares last year.
The Director of Rambam Health Care Campus, Prof. Rafael Beyar who is deeply involved in advancing the 'Vision of Adam', a program promoting medical research at Rambam, invited his friend, Prof. Aaron Ciechanower, winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2004, who serves as Chairman of Rambam's Scientific Council, to join him at the gala event.
Each participant contributed $25,000 to purchase a seat at the sold-out event.
The Directors of Rambam and University Hospital agreed to an exchange of information and collaboration in the field of biomedical research.
