Ruth Rappaport Children's Hospital

In a moving ceremony attended by Ruth and Bruce Rappaport, the Mayor of Haifa, Mr. Yona Yahav, and hospital staff members, the cornerstone was laid on 07 October 2007 for the new 15,000 sq. m. Ruth Rappaport Children's Hospital to be built at Rambam Health Care Campus, double the size of our current Meyer Children's Hospital. The new hospital, funds for which were pledged by Ruth and Bruce Rappaport, will be one of the most modern and advanced children's hospitals in the world, a facility that will emphasize the welfare of the children [for example, an internal movie theater] along with medical research and the best treatments possible. The new children's hospital will serve the northern population, from Hadera to Kiryat Shmona.

In addition to the varied population living in northern Israel is a vision of providing medical services to our neighbors. Even today, children from Iraq, Gaza, and the West Bank are treated at Rambam, a trend that will continue to grow.

The Rappaport Family has generously contributed for many years to the welfare of the community, including the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine at Technion which has graduated thousands of physicians and the Rappaport Research Institute where Rambam's physicians work side by side with Technion scientists.
